Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 eggs

- ½ cup fresh orange juice

For the Orange Glaze (Optional)
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- Pinch of orange food colour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease and line an 8-inch round cake tin.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
- In another large bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add few drops of in the vanilla essence.
- Add the orange zest and fresh orange juice to the batter.
- Mix the orange food colour into the milk until evenly blended.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the coloured milk. Fold gently until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
Prepare the Glaze
- Mix the icing sugar, orange juice, and pinch of orange food colour until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled completely, drizzle the glaze over the top and allow it to set.
